We're open 10am to 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The later finish means we can often fit someone in after work on the day they ring.

When it's more than a dental emergency
Most dental problems are urgent but not dangerous. A few are genuinely serious, and they need a hospital rather than a dentist.
Go to A&E, or call 999, if you have
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Facial swelling that is spreading, particularly towards your eye or down your neck
- A high temperature with facial swelling
- Uncontrolled bleeding that doesn't slow after 10 minutes of firm pressure
- A serious injury to the face or jaw, or a suspected broken jaw

What to do before you get here
Toothache
Take painkillers as directed on the packet — paracetamol or ibuprofen if you can take them. Avoid very hot, very cold and very sweet things. Don't hold an aspirin against the gum; it burns the tissue and doesn't help the tooth. Sleeping propped up on an extra pillow often eases throbbing.
A knocked-out adult tooth
Time matters enormously here — this is a ring-immediately situation. Pick the tooth up by the crown, never the root. Don't scrub it or wrap it in tissue. If you can, push it gently back into the socket and bite on a clean cloth to hold it there. If you can't, keep it in milk (or in your cheek) and bring it with you. Never try to reimplant a child's baby tooth.
A broken or chipped tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water and keep any pieces that have come away. If a sharp edge is cutting your tongue or cheek, cover it with a piece of sugar-free chewing gum or dental wax until you're seen.
A lost filling or crown
Keep the crown and bring it in — it can often be re-cemented. Don't use household or superglue to stick it back; it damages the tooth and can make the crown unusable. Avoid chewing on that side, and keep the exposed tooth clean.
Bleeding after an extraction
Bite firmly on a clean, damp gauze or a folded handkerchief for 10–15 minutes without lifting it to check. Avoid rinsing, hot drinks, smoking and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. If it hasn't settled after that, ring us.

What it will cost
You'll be told the cost before any treatment goes ahead — even in an emergency appointment, and even when you're in pain. An examination is £45, and treatment is priced from our published fee guide: a composite filling from £160, root canal treatment from £550, and a simple extraction from £200.
The first job is always to get you out of pain. Longer-term repairs can be planned afterwards, when you're comfortable and able to think about it properly.

What counts as a dental emergency?

What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?
Hold it by the crown, not the root. Don't scrub it. If you can, put it back into the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth; if you can't, keep it in milk and bring it with you. Then ring us immediately — the sooner a knocked-out adult tooth is replanted, the better the chance of saving it.
Will you take the tooth out?
Only if it genuinely can't be saved, and only with your agreement. Saving a tooth with a filling or root canal treatment is almost always preferable to removing it — a gap causes its own problems later. You'll be told honestly which situation you're in.
I'm terrified of the dentist but I'm in agony. What happens?
Say so when you ring. We numb the gum with a gel before any injection and give the anaesthetic time to work, and oral and inhalation sedation is available. Being in pain and being frightened at the same time is grim — we'll take it at your pace.
